Dr Chu completed his surgical training in Queensland. He is a specialist Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeon practicing all areas of the speciality dealing with problems involving jaws, face and teeth. Dr Chu completed his dental and medical qualifications in Melbourne and Adelaide.

Prior to starting his maxillofacial surgical training, he spent 5 years full time in Emergency Medicine at a registrar level in several tertiary major Adelaide hospitals and 10 years’ experience as a dentist both private and public service in both Victoria and South Australia. During this period, he was also a tutor to undergraduate university students at the University of Adelaide which honed his clinical and academic teaching skills.

During advanced surgical training rotation through most of the major tertiary hospitals in Queensland, Dr Chu achieved and obtained the qualification of FRACDS (OMS) and is registered as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with both the Australian Dental Board and Australian Medical Board (AHPRA). He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ANZAOMS).

Dr Chu provides the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and brings warm, caring and empathetic characteristics that readily connects with patient and colleagues. He has a strong philosophy in continual education, the latest surgical innovations, and a commitment to providing the highest quality of surgical care for his patients.

Dr Chu has a number of public appointments as a senior specialist surgeon at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Brisbane Dental Hospitals.

Dr Chu is a Senior Lecturer with the School of Medicine, University of Queensland, and is intensely involved in the teaching of both medical, dental undergraduate students and surgical training of the next generation of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
