Dr Benjamin Fu grew up in Brisbane and completed his dental degree with honours at The University of Queensland in 2006. He worked as a dentist servicing both private and public sectors for four years before returning to obtain his postgraduate medical degree at Griffith University and research masters degree with UQ. He completed oral and maxillofacial surgical training in Victoria and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS).
During his extended time at Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital, Ben developed special interests in paediatric maxillofacial surgery, facial trauma, and orthognathic and jaw deformity surgery. He completed additional fellowship training at the Royal Melbourne hospital in orthognathic surgery. He subsequently took up a consultant position at the Waikato Hospital in New Zealand. In addition to further development of surgical expertise, he was also the supervisor of training at Waikato hospital, and served on the NZ regional surgical committee.
In 2024, Ben returned home to Brisbane with his wife and three young children. Ben prides himself in being an empathetic and caring doctor, and practices the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He holds a consultant post at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital.
